Reconstruction of motor roads and construction of bridges in Kazakhstan: sections Kurty - Burylbaital (85 km) and Uzynagash-Otar (96 km)

According to information received from press service of the head of state, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law on ratification of agreement with IBRD on reconstruction of two sections of motor roads with a total length of 181 km.

Basic loan agreement was signed on June 13, 2009 for 2 billion US dollars for reconstruction of sections in Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan regions and on May 23, 2012 amendment N1 to the agreement was signed with addition of a new section from Shymkent to Zhambyl region.

Today, construction works are completed on these sections, and the road is put into operation. As a result of competitive procedures, as well as the past devaluation, savings have been produced. Total savings are 396 million US dollars. The government made a decision to use these savings in the amount of 271.2 million US dollars for reconstruction of Kurta-Burylbaital (85 km) and Uzynagash-Otar (96 km) sections, explained the Minister for Investment and Development Zhenis Kasymbek.

Savings will be spent on construction of a road with asphalt concrete pavement with four-lane traffic of 181 km, 14 bridges and 181 culverts. Project implementation period is 2018-2020.
